The1980’stime of peace and prosperity?, or just as tense of a time as ever. The United States of America was coming out of a cold war with the Soviet Union and the tensions rose still betweeneach country. Whether it was because of the polices against arm control, or because of the inability to change. The worldaround the 80’s was changing and growing rather rapidly and things are over looked by the culture of the time most of the time. In the 80’s Ronald Reagan introduced expansionary fiscal policies aimed at stimulating the American economy after the recession in 1981 and 1982. Ronald Reagan met with the Soviet leader four times in summit conferences and the INF Treaty was signed, which is the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty, which accelerated the end of the Cold War. The INF is an agreement made in 1987 between the United States and the Soviet Union. Also during the 1980’s Ronald Reagan spoke his famous words “Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!” These words are famous since they were directed at the Berlin wall, and bought down a wall keeping families from each other and keeping a nation from growing. Ronald Reagan improved Foreign policies and saved our nation from a recession. Also the Iran Iraq war took place from 1980 to 1988. Iraq was accused of using illegal chemical weapons to kill Iranian forces and against its own population. The U.S. launched aerial bomb of Libya in 1986 retaliation for Libyan support of terrorism and attacks on US Personnel in Germany and Turkey.
